One third of water pollution incidents are caused by industry
every year, including leaks and spills of chemicals, oils, fuel, contaminated
site run off and discarded materials. The Regulators are getting tough
on polluters. Pollution incidents can now result in expensive fines,
prosecution, clean up costs, bad publicity, associated loss of business,
and even imprisonment.
The costs of pollution can be severe, and yet putting
preventative measures in place can be simple and achieved at relatively
little expense.
Eco Technology Limited can provide you with a range
of products and services to help you meet your obligations.

Specialist synthetic absorbents
An extensive range of absorbents are available,
with formats including pads, rolls, pillows, socks, booms, drum
tops and granules. Universal or
`chemical’ type absorbents should be
used to absorb nearly all fluids including aggressive chemicals,
solvents and oils. Maintenance
or `general purpose’ type absorbents should
be used to absorb most fluids apart from aggressive acids and alkalis.
Ideal for factory and general working environments. Oil
only type absorbents are formed from hydrophobic
materials, and therefore should be used to absorb oils and hydrocarbons.
Ideal for use on watercourses. |

Spill kits
Spill kits are available in a variety of sizes
and containers, from 45 litre sorbency shoulder bags or vehicle
mounted boxes to over 1000 litres sorbency four wheeled bins. Kits
can be tailor made to suit your requirements. Refills available
at reduced cost. |

Drain protection
As a key route for pollution, drains and drainage
systems often require protection. Choose from a wide range of drain
mats and covers including clay, neoprene, and polyethylene formats,
to cover drains at the surface. Alternatively, inflatable drain
blockers can provide underground (in line) pollution prevention,
with a range of formats to suit most budgets. |

Overdrums and ancillaries
Any spill team can be helped in their response
to an emergency by having the right ancillary equipment. Leaking
or damaged containers can be stored and transported safely using
suitable overdrums. Temporary containment can be provided in the
form of inflatable bunds, and temporary storage units. Oil spillages
on water courses, drainage system and tanks can be removed with
skimming equipment. Available for hire or purchase. |

Specialist Training for Spill Response
As you will appreciate, it is essential that your staff are properly
trained and aware of their responsibilities in the event of an oil
or chemical spillage on site. Simply purchasing a `spill kit' or
pack of drain mats is not
enough. Knowing when and how to use these materials is the key to
an effective spillage response. We offer a range of on site training
courses, delivered by experienced personnel who can provide expert
advice and demonstrations. All include practical exercises where
delegates are given the opportunity to work in teams and use materials
in a `spillage' situation. Click here
